I just got back from Mykonos, where I've been going for 20 years. My first visit was when I was living in London. I was traveling around with a backpack, and my friend Heather Schiff said, "You have to come visit me in Mykonos." I spent the entire summer there, and I've been coming back ever since.
In a typical day, I woke up whenever I wanted and went downstairs in my pareo to eat by the pool. The breakfast buffet at the hotel is full of fresh baked bread, yogurt and fruit, and you can sit in the sunshine while you eat. I'd finish at 11 a.m. and then head back to my room, which had a beautiful terrace with a view of the ocean. Then I'd either go to Panormos [a sheltered bay on Mykonos' northern shore], or Aghios Sostis beach, where there's an unbelievable restaurant called Kiki's, serving all kinds of barbecue, marinated pork chops and artichoke salads.
