I was on a seven-day cruise of the Greek Isles. By this time, we were so exhausted that staying on the ship proved to be more relaxing than the many optional excursions to the islands. However, the one island that many of us got off at was the island of Mykonos, which was like looking at a picture in a book, with it's white stucco houses with blue roofs and windmills on the hills. I will return!

Hi all, just a short note to say that if you are planning to party in Mykonos then make sure you get there before end of August! We got there in September and it was too late!!! All the beach parties had closed, except for one, which was one out of about 20! Anyway, it was also windy and the weather wasnt that great as we were told it was only weekends before! So my tip: get there before the end of August, definately not in September, the "Party" season is definately over by then!!!!

During a cruise July 2004, we were able to spend a day on Mykonos. Fantastic island with excellent shopping and dining facilities. The residents were very friendly and helpful. We explored on our own as opposed to a guided tour and we loved every minute. I used several expressions in Greek and because of that effort to communicate in the native tongue I believe the residents were more receptive to our questions. Learn a few phrases before you go. Hello (phonetic spelling - de kine is)and thank you (ah fud e sto)are just two simple words that go a long way. Great jewellery stores bring your credit cards.
