For the first few days of our holiday we stayed in a different hotel but had seen the Apollonia Bay hotel while exploring Mykonos. Upon our spontaneous return to the island a week later we were able to get a last minute reservation. This hotel is beautiful--it captures the ambiance of Mykonos perfectly. A large pool and bar area is surrounded by chaise lounges, hammocks, intimate corners with pillows and white curtains. There were fresh lilies on the breakfast tables, attentive servers and a lovely buffet. Our room was tastefully decorated with an understated elegance and, like all the rooms, had a patio overlooking an unspoiled bay. This hotel is located a little out of the way--a ten minute moped ride into town and little longer to the major beaches.
The only downside was the attitude of the front desk clerk as we checked out. While the rest of the staff was very friendly, her behavior was appealling. After informing us (too late) that we were supposed to have made arrangements 24 hours beforehand for transfer to the port, she attempted to charge us for a car which we did not hire. She failed to apologize even after her mistake was called to her attention and her demeanor was rather combative and aggressive. This exchange almost caused us to miss our ferry. This disappointment aside, we had a wonderful stay.
