RESTAURANTS IN MYKONOS CITY (CHORA)
| MAMACAS MYKONOS is located in the courtyard garden of a house that was built in 1845 by the Andronikos family, whose members included prominent politicians and businessmen.
The garden features five palm trees, the oldest of which is 155 years old. Terra cota pots lining the garden wall were a gift of the Princess of Malta to the present owner's grandmother. The entrance features a floor of sea pebbles, while the furniture and decoration is the same as MAMACAS GAZI. |
FANIS MALASPINAS is the architect and interior designer for the MAMACAS restaurants. He immediately understood the partners desire to use traditional materials for the interiors, furniture and decorative objects.
The wooden floors and walls are white-washed, the fabrics include cotton canvas and burlap. Lanterns, ice buckets and small utensils are made of tin. At night, the walls and tables are filled with votive candles.
Mr. MALASPINAS designed all of the furniture which was inspired by traditional Greek taverna tables and chairs. It is clean and spare, but not stark of cold. The background is beige and off-white, while the color is supplied by bounteous plates of food.
